“She’s pretty,” Ilsa murmurs to no one in particular, letting her eyes skate up and down the woman’s lithe form. Ethan glances at her with a wry grin, and Ilsa rolls her eyes, reaching over to take a sip of her water. She watches the woman tuck a strand of wavy blonde hair behind her ear, tilting her head to the side slightly as she laughs, allowing Ilsa to catch a glimpse of a sharp jawline and long neck.

The IMF crosses paths with Alanna on a mission. Ilsa can't help but notice her more and more often.

Summary
“I didn't peg you for the religious type,” Ilsa sounds out, choked by the remnants of warmth from Alanna's quick hands still lingering against the skin of her neck.
Alanna chuckles. “Not religious,” she argues, amused in a gentle, almost ironic tone. Her voice reverberates through the empty space. A revelation. “Devoted to a fault.”
“To the church?”
Alanna pauses for a second. It seems like Ilsa has finally caught her off-guard.
“No. Not exactly,” she answers, dazed eyes dancing. Her smile is knowing. Ilsa had forgotten how well it suits her, lighting up her expression like sparks threatening to start a forest fire. “But a miracle or two couldn't hurt.”
Ilsa finds Alanna in the last place she'd thought to look. Maybe she'll anchor them both to the ground this time.
