blackouts, fainting, hallucinations, vivid dreams, rapidly escalating amounts of memory loss, the constant feeling of being watched… these are only a few of the symptoms marty mcfly- who has recently been signing his name as marty mcfly-brown, for reasons he can’t explain- has been experiencing over the past few weeks. he sometimes doesn’t even recognize his own family. refusing to go to see anyone about any of this, he’s put up with all these symptoms, life altering as they may threaten to be, until now…
it’s beginning to get out of control, a terrible accident has just occurred at the institute of future science, someone has been relentlessly trying to break in and has been consistently avoiding capture every time, and now, marty is in the hospital, just barely hanging on. to make matters exponentially worse, no doctor can seem to accurately diagnose what’s wrong with him… except one, who knows exactly what’s happening, a fate he had been certain he would be able save marty from. but there was nothing he could do about it now. it was time to stop desperately grasping at a past he hadn’t actually lived, a past that no longer existed. for both of them…

Summary
marty mcfly never felt quite at home in the mcfly house. after the events of november 1985- and 1955- AND 1885- he thought he’d feel a bit differently. but after a few weeks of painful realization that his parents and siblings were just as bad as they’d been before- just in different, arguably worse, due to them being unfamiliar, ways- he’s about to give up entirely. and he is NOT looking forward to christmas.
that is, until he realizes that he doesn’t have to spend christmas with the mcflys… and that he can spend christmas with HIS family. …wether they want him there or not.
what the oh-so-infinitely-clever (and also possibly-ever-so-slightly-traumatized) marty mcfly doesn’t know is that they DO want him there… and they’re planning a suprise for their oldest son. but unfortunately, as they quickly learn, surprises- and feelings- this big can be a tad bit difficult to keep hidden for too long.

Squeegee, a teenage stage tech at muppet studios, grapples with the fact that the muppets are being kicked aside by the higher-ups at disney. she feels as if kermit isn't doing nearly enough to fight for his family's livelihoods and home, the muppet studios lot. but suddenly, kermit announces he's taking a whole week to listen to everyone's concerns and address them individually, working very closely with the small stage crew to take their creative power back. she prepares to fight tooth and nail for change with someone she sees as an incompetent, naive, antiquated patriarch, but finds she was completely unprepared for the game plan he's got, and the ruthless family man hiding just below the surface.realizing as i write that it sounds like i'm selfshipping with kermit, i am NOT squeegee is a late teenager and kermit's like 50 and HAPPILY MARRIED! there is plenty of fluffy muppet shipping in this fic but nothing nsfw and nothing weird!!!!!! this fic is also just a crap ton of old OLD oneshots that i rewrote, edited and mashed up into a narrative story. it's mostly the above summary but there's gonna be some side stories and flashbacks and what have you. idk it's all over the place

The events of late 1985 had a tremendous impact on both marty mcfly and emmet brown. they had both survived so much for so long that survival had been all they’d known. but they weren’t just surviving anymore. they didn’t have to. they were safe now. and THAT was terrifying.
