Summary
When Ilya Rozanov goes down on the ice, the Boston Bears are already moving to defend their captain. No one expects Shane Hollander, captain of the Montreal Voyageurs, to be the one who throws the first punch.
Or: the Boston Bears figure out Ilya and Shane’s relationship first—and decide that instead of letting their captain move to fucking Ottawa, they’ll just kidnap a his boyfriend instead. Shane Hollander would make a better Bear anyway.

“Is Max okay?” he asks, his breathing ragged and heartbeat echoing inside his skull.
“He seems to be okay. Mostly.”
“Mostly?"
“Verstappen is out of the car, but he was shaking his hands. We suspect he was holding the wheel at impact. That’s all we know, sorry Charles.”
Or: Max's qualifying crash with Charles freaking out.

Summary
Max Verstappen says the 2026 cars feel like “Formula E on steroids” and the paddock does what it does best: overreact.
Lando Norris jokes “If he hates it that much, he can just retire.”
George Russell is more composed. “If Max doesn’t enjoy the direction of the sport, he’s achieved everything. He can retire. Or go drive the Nürburgring for fun.”
The quotes go viral.
Then Red Bull Racing releases a statement that detonates Formula 1.
Max Verstappen is retiring. Team principal Laurent Mekies cites “personal reasons.”
Max disappears.
The paddock spirals. Lando insists it was a joke. George calls and gets silence. The internet invents conspiracy theories.
The truth is far more inconvenient.
Two months earlier, after too much Gin and Tonics and an argument that turned into flirting, Max and George made one reckless decision they agreed never to discuss again.
Except biology disagreed.
Now Max is very, very pregnant.
Retirement suddenly makes sense.
Hiding from the press is easy. Hiding from the father is harder.
And somewhere in the paddock, Lando Norris is still wondering if this is technically his fault.
