    Summary

Life’s hard when you need to rely on Solas for anything. It only gets harder when you’re tossed through time into a pre-Mage Rebellion Kirkwall and all you wanted was to save the world.

Rook, fifteen. Solas, recently risen from uthenera.

They’re all each other has got and they’re both miserable about it.

Good luck getting that dagger back.

    ~or~

An accident at the end of the world thrusts Rook and Solas into the past. Twenty years younger, weaker, and the weight of Solas’ betrayal between them, they will need to rely on each other to survive Kirkwall in the hopes they might recover the Red Lyrium idol, cleanse it back into the Lyrium Dagger, and return home.

    Summary

"I never was built for war, General." Valen'nan sighed, limbs heavy and uncomfortable after who knows how long. Elgar'nan was quiet, the silence stilted and suddenly awkward, like a hissing cat had realized there was nothing lurking in the shadows. Unlike the cat, Elgar'nan would not relax until he got what he wanted.

"You say that as if you did not take up your glaive at any mere mention of Anaris."

That got Elgar'nan the attention he wanted, Valen'nan's stare edged almost as sharp as said glaive.

"That was because Anaris insisted on committing the crime of being annoying. It is not my fault I have no personal joy in conquering a world so up in arms at the mere thought of elven gods at its helm." Valen'nan said, holding Elgar'nan's gaze as he spoke.

That silence stretched itself between them again, for a small while.

Eventually, Elgar'nan sighed, his expression quieter as he returned the stare.

"Would you indulge in it for my joy, then?"

“You insist you do not require my aid. And yet -”

“And yet nothing,” Rook said. “I don’t require your aid. Nor do I require your presence.”

“Of course,” Solas replied. “Who am I to argue with the woman who outsmarted the Dread Wolf?”
