Edward closes his book and his left hand rests atop the cover.
He is not wearing his wedding ring.
Roy's heart twists.
Edward's eyes sweep down and back up his body, lazy and blatant, and Roy expects a jab about his stuffy suit, and he would say it's a damn good suit from one of the finest tailors in the city, but it doesn't come.
"Well shit, Mustang. You know you're supposed to let go a little in your old age, right?" Edward drawls.*
Future fic. Ed and Roy are friends and keep in touch, but both moved on with their lives after the Promised Day. Roy is unsatisfied with his life, now Field Marshal, a largely honorary position during peacetime. Ed retired from the military and is a researcher/lecturer, a father, and recently divorced.

Summary
What does one do when their skin peels off their face? When that peeled skin reveals a white splotchy mess covering your body from their ears to their toes?
Tim hides it all from his family, hides his second skin that he feels so ashamed of.
What does he do to hide it and how does his family not notice his body decomposing as he walks around like any other?
Or: Tim hides Joker Junior from his family to his best abilities, good thing they just think he's weird.

"Aye, bonnie she is but she'd be more useful as a street worker than any wife."

"You didn't need to cut him," Roisin said. "I was going to run away with you even if he said no."
