    Kintsugi (金継ぎ) - The Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending the cracks with gold lacquer. The cracks are highlighted as part of the piece's history, rather than a flaw to hide.

    A series of fics in the same continuity, following post-TotK Link, the Sage of Time; his ward Midori, the should-have-been Hero of the Depths; and a dead god in a mask.

    Shards of the Hero and Unbroken can be read as standalone fics. While Link (Sage) and Midori appear in Unbroken, you'll learn about them as the Chain does.

    "In the aftermath of Twilight’s injury, Hyrule was thinking. Often.

    Not about Life, but about books, and who wrote them, and how.

    And thus, the experiment began.

    “Why are you buying so many green potions, Rulie?” Legend asked.

    Hyrule gave him a shark-tooth smile, a wolf-faced grin, the kind of expression that should occasionally come with blood in your teeth. “Research.”

    Wild gets hurt, badly, and Hyrule taps into a power he hadn't been interested in using ever again. Except, Wild's been dead before, and the consequences of bringing him back again combined with Hyrule's own determination to see him healed are more than any of them know how to handle.

    But Link knows everyone who lives here. With all the political unrest from Agahnim's reign, tourists to Hyrule are scarce– and yet, here are one, two, three, four… nine strangers all walking together along the trail. Armed. He has to strain his ears, but he can just manage to catch their voices from this distance.

    “...We don’t even know where it’ll be.”

    “It seems like there’s going to be somewhere indoors we can stay this time, though."

    “And with any luck, the Vet will get us in the castle.”

    Link bristles. The castle? The one in the scarf is saying something about an audience with the princess, but Link’s not about to let this slide. The knights are in no state to be protecting her right now, and Link’s not half bad with a sword himself.
     
    If there’s anyone who’s gonna stop them, it’s me!

    Without thinking past that he leaps out of his hiding place, squarely blocking their path and leveling his blade.

    “What do you want with the princess?” he demands.

    Zelda smiles, continuing. "It also has brief physical descriptions. Hair color, eye color, any distinctive trait, also meant for being able to recognize which Noble was being referred to in other texts, or proving parentage, or…"

    Link looks up at her, sharp, not missing a trick.

    She forces a smile back, stares into those features so very like her own, and turns one more page.

    "This is them, the first King and Queen. The first Hyruleans, technically, if you believe the legends."

    The words Zelda and Link seem to jump off the page, twisting and wrapping around Link and Zelda both like a vice grip, a bind, lashing them together.

    Link paused, just before throwing the rope down on the far side of the wall.

    This was stupid. And dangerous. He was going into unfamiliar territory, at night, alone. But he had put on the least ostentatious tunic he owned, there would be no better time, and he was thoroughly sick of his father’s shit.

    He threw the rope down and started to climb. When he reached the ground, Link hurried away from the wall, grinning despite himself. He’d made it out.

    Time for the dangerous part: exploring.

    Or: Prince Legend goes for a walk. This has far-reaching consequences.
