Summary
When Izaya Orihara slips into a coma after his and Shizuo’s climatic fight, he starts to dream while he sleeps. He believes he is going crazy, experiencing hallucinations and strange feelings in his dream, he knows something is deeply, deeply wrong, but he doesn't realize what is happening. He somehow finds solace in Shizuo's company, and Shizuo is the only one who can bring him back to the waking world. The nightmares are only just beginning however.

It took him weeks to wonder how they must have felt, and now he wonders again, wonders if, just like him, Mairu inhales smoke so she doesn’t have to breathe in the lack of Izaya. God knows there seems to be more of it than there’s oxygen in the city.
God knows cigarette smoke is nowhere near as bitter.
Or, Shizuo can't forget Izaya, so he decides to remember him instead.
