She was drowning.
Icy water burned through my bones. She thrashed, but no matter how much she pushed against the water, the endless waves just slammed her back down.
She couldn’t tell up from down, couldn’t tell if she was even swimming towards the surface.
Her eyes burned. She was blind.
She pushed and pushed and pushed, but her skin was numb and saltwater slid down her nose and throat.
She was drowning.
Her thrashing slowed. Everything became blurrier.
The dark was closing in.
She was drowning.
Then, distantly, she felt a bony arm slam against her rib cage and clutch it fiercely.
(Or: Hana Shimura survives by complete accident, in the aftermath, the question of her continued survival is…complicated)

Either way, they disappeared into an innumerable collection headlined by Xin Mo, the blade Luo Binghe made out of his scum villain shizun Shen Qingqiu, and that he brutally dominated until its spirit faded into nothing.
When Shen Yuan unwillingly takes on the role of Shen Qingqiu—well, maybe he can’t avoid his ultimate fate as a sword, but he can still try to make it a little less painful for everyone involved.

Summary
Xie Lian's last believer is so fervently devoted to him that he seems to think mostly in the form of prayer. That is a terrifying prospect. Xie Lian has never heard of such a case before, not even in hypotheticals, and he finds himself hoping, for his believer's sake, that there is some other explanation for this phenomenon.
Whatever the reason, a low stream of his believer's thoughts hum in the back of Xie Lian's consciousness.
His believer does not seem to be aware of it.

When Xie Lian ascends for the third time, he is welcomed back to godhood with prayers that he hadn't expected: an ongoing stream of thought from his sole remaining believer. He gathers quickly that this believer is very old, very powerful, and very, very much in love with him.
For his believer's sake, Xie Lian can cast a spell to shut the prayers out—but only if he has access to spiritual energy.
