Sat at the small circular table, is not only Bucciarati and Abbacchio, but a beautiful cake resting as the centerpiece with candles patiently waiting to be lit.
“W–...What is all this for?” He asks before either of the men can speak.
It causes a morph in an instance. Faces fall, and the responding silence becomes suffocating. The tension is so thick in the air that it can be cut. He swears that even the balloons droop as a response to match.
“Bucciarati?” Fugo asks softly, trying to get his attention for an answer.
Silently, Bruno stands. Eyes gentle when he approaches.
“It’s February 12th, Panna.” He says softly. His features are imploring, but Fugo doesn’t understand. “It’s your birthday.”
Fugo freezes. “Oh.” He murmurs.

It should be a saddening sight. A regularly forgotten birthday. A boy who holds no importance even to his parents unless it’s a shallow trophy to use for bragging rights. Yet, Fugo isn’t mad. He isn’t surprised. He’s not upset. There’s nothing for him to feel when there’s nothing for him to realize. His birthday has always meant absolutely nothing. Bottom of the barrel. A footnote.
