She feels her face scrunch up in distaste at that, it feels so awkward, also very suspicious. Derapchu will ask too many questions, also it doesn’t mention Zam so it’s likely Derapchu will only reply with a “Dalright” and call it a day.
She presses the backspace until the entire line of sentence is erased, and then she lets herself sigh. Why are the two most annoying people so infatuated with each other?

It’s just her luck that Derapchu would be the one to log on right then, right inside the base, obviously. It’s just his luck that that somehow hurts more than it would’ve if it was literally anyone else.
Seeing Derapchu awoke a visceral feeling. It was yanking at his lungs. She doesn’t know what word to use, he doesn’t know if there’s even a word that describes the devastation she felt when Derap asked what she was doing.
And worst of all, it served as a kind of comfort.

“So she doesn’t know that you’re here?” He asks, his hands reaching up for his hoodie strings so he doesn’t just stand there awkwardly. “Zam- does your team even know you’re here?”

He quickly let go of it, dusting his hands off in his pants as if to get rid of the evidence that he was stressed to begin with.

“How do you know that?” Derapchu asked, genuinely perplexed.
Zam took a while to answer. She looked back at the sky, asking herself, how does she know?

He liked to think he understood how Zam’s brain worked, even back then. Somehow, she still finds ways to jumble up the already messy idea he has of her though.
“I don’t know!” Zam only laughed awkwardly, a small smile plastered on her face as she looked up to the sky in question, as if it’d help her understand her own words better. “Like, I already went on solo missions to fight Flame, and I just continuously tried to do things on my own. “Doubtful?” Derapchu tried, one eyebrow raised and a grin on his lips. “Man… You’re weird.” He shook his head, turning his attention back to the task at hand.
