His garden was beautiful. He’d designed it himself years ago. All polished wood pathways winding through flower beds and hedges. Deep greens and earth tones.
The pond at the far end, surrounded by willows.
He took the path slowly. Hands in his pockets.
Wondered when he’d hear the two boys. Or if they were just enjoying the peaceful evening.
When he rounded the view of the pond, he found them.
Thomas was laying in the grass. Body loose and warm in the fading sunlight.
Minho’s arm was over Thomas’s waist. He was awake—watching the birds fly overhead.
Thomas dozed. Face peaceful.
Jorge’s expression softened.
The intimacy, the peace they shared.
He understood. Assumed they were close in a certain way.
Simply acknowledged it. Filed it away as fact.
“Boys,” he called gently.
Minho looked up. Didn’t move his arm. “Hey, Mr. Jorge.”
“Dinner’s ready. You staying?”
