They didn’t know Hood was there until Nightwing had snuck through one of the windows and saw him having a tense conversation with the traffickers who ran operations there, and then one of them- the leader, probably- had taken a threatening step forward.
Hood had remedied that by shooting him in the face, and from there all hell had broken loose. Nightwing dropped down- enemy of my enemy, and also maybe Hood would kill less of them if a Bat was there (he did not) and assisted, but one of the traffickers, by the end, had managed to set up a bomb with non-insubstantial amounts of C4. So then the warehouse had been a smoking wreck. Hood had taken the brunt of it, slamming hard into a wall, mask letting out a sharp crack, and slumping, unconscious.
And- well, is Dick supposed to just leave him there?

“He’s not sleeping.” Shane flares his nostrils—another gesture Yuna hasn’t seen in so many years. “He’s waiting for me to call a third time. Mom. Please. He’s—he’ll be so worried.”
Yuna shifts her thumb and lets it drop. Is Yuna a bad mother if she hopes "Lily" doesn’t pick up?

Summary
Both of them are there the next time Shane wakes up about an hour later, and this time he opens his eyes, rasps Mom?
The room fills quickly, a flurry of nurses coming to check vitals and adjust his IV, the doctor stepping in to conduct all of the mandatory concussion protocol. Shane grunts and groans every time he has to move his sore body but otherwise complies as he always does, sitting through the basic questions and the light shining in his eyes. He’s up just long enough to finish those and to get something in him to eat, and just after Yuna and David both manage to sneak in tearful, relieved hugs, he’s slipping back into sleep once again.
Normal, they keep saying. This is all perfectly normal.
But there’s something, Yuna thinks—something here that she’s missing.

Vash isn't human. There's so much to him that is too much, too different, too weird to be comfortable around people. Humanoid, not human. Slowly, he starts to let Wolfwood see what that means. 5 times Vash showed Wolfwood the ways he wasn't human and 1 time Wolfwood made Vash realize that didn't matter.
Or, Vash is subjected to the mortifying ordeal of being known.
