Summary
After a minute of nothing but hearing the wind blow past his ears, the bike's engine, and Rust's hums, he finally felt his organs go back to how they were meant to. The bike slowed to a halt and the engine stopped running. Tesla felt Rust start to get off the bike, which to him was a signal to open his eyes. Before he even got a chance to register what was happening, he felt Rust slam his hand on his face.
“Wha- Rust!” Tesla grabbed his hand, trying to move it.
“Hold on! You’ll spoil it for yourself, close your eyes, and let me lead you.”
Today seemed like the day Rust turned on his charm because Tesla, despite himself, did what Rust asked. He felt Rust take his hand off his face, then felt Rust's hand take his own, feeling himself flush under his mask. As Rust softly led him off the bike,one hand on his back. Rust led them forward, carefully making sure to watch where they stepped.
“Okay, here we are, go ahead and open your eyes.”

Summary
Running is freeing.
It's something Tesla has learned over the years. Sure-footed in a bramble-coated forest, they race through familiar trails, weaving between tree trunks and tracing murky streams. They know every landmark, every location of volunteer stalls for supplies and medical aid, every damn inch of dirt and muck and pure untamed wild.
They may not have an alpha's nose, or an omega's tricks, but there's still something primal about it all. No houses, no civilisation. Just the smell of pine sap, the crunch of needles and leaf litter underfoot, animal trails carving through bushland that presses on without an end in sight.
There's nothing but themselves and the flora. No sideways glances, no fighting for so much as a sliver of recognition, just open air and raw adrenaline.

Tesla has strong-armed their way into participating in the yearly mating run despite their diagnosis as a beta. This is their sixth year running.

Summary
Fate is the cause of all this. The reason rust and doc met that night at that bar, the reason they hated each other. And the reason they they had slowly begun to realize that in some sick and twisted way they were in love. Even though it could never work out.
