It was an ornament kit, with an ink pad and a bright red frame that read My First Christmas along with the year. “How cute. You take a baby’s hand or footprint and put it in the frame after.”
Jayce propped his chin on Viktor’s shoulder, leaning over him to look down at it. “Smart idea,” he replied, one hand coming up to trace the mock footprint that decorated the package. “It’s so tiny.”
“Ah—it says it’s ‘perfect’ for newborns.” Viktor read. He let out a soft hum, almost bordering on a purr. “Very sweet, hm?”
Viktor reached out to put it back on the rack but Jayce’s hand gently grabbed his wrist, stilling it. “…We could buy it, y’know.”
Viktor turned his head, giving Jayce an amused look. “Right. For the newborn we have?”
“For the newborn we could have.” Jayce countered.

Dazai feels like he’s ascending, hearing the praise through the small speaker. It was much needed considering the condition he's in, and it finds a way to push him deeper into a state of stupidity and passiveness. He wonders if one day he’ll be promoted from “toy” to “pet”, but either way, he relishes in the fact that he’s owned at all. And perhaps “toy” is more fitting. A dumb little play thing to keep Chuuya entertained during late evenings.

Chuuya leaves a very hydrated Dazai to survive until he’s back from work and watches him struggle through a pet cam, but always makes sure to take care of him once he’s home

“I’m in a band now,” Caitlyn Kiramman says, over the phone.
Viktor remembers seeing that, somewhere. Vaguely. A rock band of some sort, which had been unsettling to hear; Caitlyn had been one of the more talented students he’d ever mentored, and she had stepped off of the path that he has devoted his life to.
But she sounds proud to say it, so he finds himself smiling as he says, “I’ve heard.”
“Yeah? Um. Well. There’s a gig on Saturday. It pays.” He hears a sharp inhale, an exhale, and then she confesses, “We need someone who can play keys.”
Viktor is pursuing his PhD in musicology. He also needs to make rent.
“Viktor might be a bad idea for you right now,” Vi says, straight to the point.
“Fuck off,” Jayce responds. “You know I didn’t mean anything by it. All talk, like you said.”
“Not a lot of folks Cupcake calls in a crisis. She says he’s a nice guy. You’re not crashing out, but Viktor deserves better than to be treated like a rebound without knowing, and if you make shit weird for him and Cait, I’m going to hand you your ass.”
Jayce is a great drummer. He’s just not great at being casual.
