He pulls away and continues onwards with a sigh, eyes on the ground. “I pulled everyone into my grand plan to ‘save the world’, and when it mattered most, I wasn’t even there.” Rover bites his lip and stops walking again.

It’s in the way he seems to unconsciously lean towards Cheng Xiaoshi, as if his heart is reaching out for Cheng Xiaoshi even now, when they’re on opposite sides of an issue. He doesn’t say it with his words, but he doesn’t have to, because Cheng Xiaoshi has seen it happen over and over again.
