“Alright,” Nancy says, and then, unthinkingly, she adds, “It’s a date, then.”
The other line goes abruptly silent.
Nancy frowns. “Steve? Are you okay?”
She hears him clear his throat. “Yeah, I’m here. I’m great. I’m — I’ll see you and Jonathan Friday?”
And later, much later, Nancy will look back and realize that this is the moment where she should’ve put it together. But she doesn’t. Instead, she says, “Great. We’ll pick you up at six. Sound good?”
“Yeah,” Steve says, his voice quiet and careful. “That sounds great, actually.”

Summary
Jamie, from a few years after Ted has left, gets dropped right in the middle of the season 1 locker room. There he has to struggle with being cut off from his support system while surrounded by people who look like his friends, but aren’t yet. Meanwhile everyone else is reeling from how different this Jamie is, who has suddenly found himself in their midst.

Roy, who has never once looked at Jamie Tartt’s arms with anything other than detached professionalism, and really only during the rare instances when he was on spotting duty at the weight bench, downs an entire glass of wine and resigns himself to what amounts to psychological torture every Wednesday evening for the foreseeable future.
Roy reluctantly watches the entire season of Lust Conquers All.
Despite that, he doesn't really figure out how to deal with Jamie Tartt until months later.
