“Thor,” Odin said, waving a hand to dim the lights in the room as he rose to his feet. “Odinson. My heir. My firstborn. Long have you waited for this day, on which I bestow upon you the tasks of the konungsskapari. Before you is a map of the Nine, over which Asgard has ruled since Auðumbla licked Búri from the salt and rime of Ginnungagap. The Norns did not bestow such power upon our people lightly, and each would-be king of Asgard must prove himself worthy.
“The heir is to complete nine tasks, one for each of the Nine Realms, and in doing so prove his worth.” Odin took the parchment in hand, turning it between his fingers for a moment before he continued. “Before I present you with your tasks, know this: the konungsskapari is not to be undertaken lightly. The quest is not designed to bring glory; rather, it is to shape the heir into the king both Asgard and the Nine are in need of. Once you leave, there is to be no turning back. You may move freely between the other realms, but you will not be granted passage back to Asgard until it is time for the final task.”

Thor blinked in disbelief. This wasn't real. It couldn't be. He was dreaming, and any minute now he was going to wake to Loki scorning him for drifting off in the afternoon sun.
But he was very much awake, and Loki was watching him intently, almost hungrily. He was sitting very, very close to Thor.__
Thor falls for his brother at a young age. Together, they not only uncover their true feelings for each other, but also a darkness within Thor. They transpire to keep their relationship a secret, and are successful, until one day Frigga catches them. The consequences go far beyond what either of them had ever imagined.

Summary
Something like eight years has passed since Loki last saw Thor. And he’s moved on, completely. He has finished studying, got a job, and moved further north, three hours away from his parents’ place. He has buried those years of his life somewhere deep, somewhere unreachable. He has continued on his journey to success: he has friends, hobbies, his own place. And nobody in his new life even knows he has a brother. Had a brother. The only thing that serves as a reminder of that time is the tattoo on the small of his back.
A loose sequel to my 2013 work "Snuff", in which they get their happy ending.
