When Arthur buys a new flat, it should mean that everything in his life is slotting into place. Instead, he can’t stop going on bad dates, his sister won’t get off his back about mental health, and the cupboard doors keep mysteriously falling open.
When the ghost who haunts the flat reveals himself, Arthur decides to help him finish whatever unresolved business he has that’s keeping him from properly passing on. Once Arthur gets rid of this ghostly Merlin figure, he can go back to getting his own life in order.
Of course Merlin has a poor memory, and as Arthur tries to dig into Merlin’s life, he gets used to having a ghost around his home.

It’s 1953, and Arthur is a young, up-and-coming architect working on rebuilding London. All he wants is to be successful and live his life in peace and quiet. All his boss wants is to find a good match for his daughter Elena, and he thinks he’s found that match in Arthur. Arthur agrees to go out with her to get ahead at the firm, but the person he’s really interested in is her friend Merlin, and it turns out Elena has her own purposes for being with Arthur. -

Merlin cannot remember Arthur’s face, no matter how hard he tries. It’s simply been too long, and the world has changed too much, and Merlin has changed, too.He happens across a psychic who shows him a vision, and he can very nearly almost see Arthur’s face, but not quite. When the vision ends, Merlin thinks that’s as close as he’ll ever get. Then, while making lunch, he suddenly finds himself somewhere impossible, somewhere that doesn’t exist anymore, sometime that doesn’t exist anymore.
But that vision doesn’t last long, either. Until Merlin finds himself back in Camelot again. And again.

“And have you,” Merlin starts, his voice drawing Arthur’s gaze back to him, inevitable. Merlin licks his lips, his eyes intent and wary on Arthur’s face. “Have you changed your mind about walking away?”
Arthur feels like he’s balancing on a precipice, and a part of him wants to move back to safety. The other wants to see what happens if he jumps.
He feels like he’s getting better at the whole jumping bit.
Arthur's life is going alright; he finally got his feet back underneath him after his father died a year ago, his friends are great, and he loves his work as a journalist. That is, until he gets assigned to write an article for pride month, together with Merlin of all people. Merlin, who he usually does his best to avoid, at work and within their group of friends both. Merlin who, unlike Arthur, is out and proud as bi. Merlin, who is exactly Arthur's type.
It's fine, though. Arthur can write an article about the queer history of England, and he can write it with Merlin, too. Nothing has to change.

Merlin lives in a world where magic is outlawed and members of the royal family have wings. The trouble is that he has magic, and he has wings, and he is decidedly not royal. It's a lonely, confusing, unenviable life, but it's his, and he does what he can to manage.Then Prince Arthur, openly gay and proudly displaying his wings, bursts onto the scene at Merlin's work. All Merlin wants are answers about why he has wings when he's not a royal, but he doesn't want to give himself away.
As the prince gets closer and closer to Merlin's truth, Merlin learns about his own family secrets, about Princess Morgana's plot to bring magic back to the kingdom, and about how Prince Arthur's life isn't as perfect as it seems.
