Summary
izuku’s father wasn’t the greatest person.
he was probably a pretty terrible one, actually, but it was so long ago and izuku was so young when he was around that by now all his memories of him are either faded or buried deep in his consciousness, only to be brought out in late-night whispers in the dark and the worst of his nightmares.
funny how one encounter can bring it all cascading back into the spotlight.

Summary
Midoriya Izuku, Shinsou Hitoshi, and Todoroki Shouto are three kids who want nothing more than to be heroes.
They also share a soulmate bond, and with it, each other’s pain. Fighting through abuse to become something more than what they are, the three of them learn to turn something that threatened to consume them into something beautiful, something they can use to save others.

(The three of them would keep talking that night, about quirks, or the lack thereof for one of them, and heroes, and how some of them are just monsters putting on a show for the public. The next day they would get up, and Hitoshi would feel the burn of Endeavor’s fire and Bakugou’s explosion and instead of shouldering through with a blank face and indifferent mask, he’d press gentle fingertips to the phantom wounds and push down until the faintest pressure slipped through the bond.Hitoshi and his soulmates still burned, but it didn’t seem so bad when they were burning together.)

Summary
Izuku had a soulmark before. Explosions across his collarbone, bright and loud, a neon sign that screamed for all the world to hear exactly who his soulmate was.
It disappears in his final year of middle school. Izuku asks the universe to take it away after his last straw is taken in Kacchan’s hands and snapped in half, and he isn’t granted a second one. Not that he minds all that much- no, no one is better than Kacchan was, and Izuku thinks he can settle for finding love one day without the help of some fancy mark on his skin.
Hitoshi never had a soulmark before. He grew up without one and got bullied for it. After all, he was the villain kid, so despicable with such an evil quirk that even the universe agreed he wasn’t worthy of love. He grew to accept it slowly, eventually coming to terms with the fact that he’d have to find someone on his own even if the odds were stacked against him.
Both of them are surprised one night to see a splotch of color on their hands, a thin matching thread that begins to grow as the days go by.
Thankfully, neither are disappointed.

Summary
It’s the end of their first term as second years, and class 2-C is throwing a party.
Hitoshi doesn’t want to go- he’s not a party guy, and he much prefers sitting quietly in his room with a small group of friends- but Midoriya insists and Hitoshi’s not strong enough to resist him or any of his other friends.
He agrees to stay for at least an hour, fully planning on leaving the moment eight PM rolls around, until an old acquaintance from the general studies track one year above them- Mizuno Nao- shows up to chat with him. The company is nice in the loud, suffocating room, and Hitoshi has a good time talking with him on the outskirts of the crowd.
It takes him too long to realize that Mizuno’s intention was never just to talk.

Summary
When Midoriya Izuku first gets his quirk, it mutilates him, burning him so severely the nerve damage will carry through for the rest of his life.
That is not what he is worried about when it first manifests. No, even at age four, Izuku knew that when his father found out about his quirk, it would spell disaster for the rest of his life. But no one listened to him, a toddler, when they could instead turn to his wealthy and influential father and buy into his lies.
So Izuku burns. He burns, and he burns, and he burns.
But all matches eventually turn to ash, and all candles eventually run out of wax, and all fire everywhere, eventually, extinguishes.
Izuku cannot burn forever, but maybe there are people who can help him before his wick runs out.

He waves a hand, like an imitation of what he had done before. “It leaks.”
…Daisuke spares another glance towards medical. Unsatisfied, he feels, whispered in his head. He feels just like he did at the start of this internship. Out of place. Missing something.
Whatever that was, it hadn’t scratched the itch. And Daisuke was beginning to think it was going to fester if he didn’t do something about it soon.
OR: something isn't sitting right when daisuke finds out that curly crashed the ship. this spirals, as things tend to.
