And now, standing on the edge of the wall looking over the battlefield he can't help but think how it all came to this, that here, listening to the silence of the world before the oncoming storm is where he might die tomorrow, where he might fail Thorin as he wasn't able to do what was expected of him.

“No, there isn’t,” Fili grunted, his sentence punctuated by the shriek of a dying orc. “There isn’t.”
Kili’s arms screamed as he pushed another blade away. “I can’t do it.”
“Yes, you can. Mightiest creatures in Middle-earth, wasn’t it?”

Instead of Fiyero finding Elphaba, she finds him.
