    Summary

In the summer of 1944, on the very precipice of World War 2’s decisive turning point, the United States Army was making waves in preparation for the invasion of Nazi-occupied France. Sergeant Nolan Landry is assigned as the medic for the 2nd Battalion—and when the time comes to move out for D-Day, he is forced to reconcile himself with the inevitability of the situation. As the invasion looms, he must grapple with the responsibility of keeping the men alive while desperately trying to maintain his distance from them—for the sake of both his sanity and his survival. Immediately, Nolan finds Private Thomas Grant to be the worst possible combination of reckless, loud and impossibly bright, making it endlessly hard to commit to establishing his cold, hard distance from the red-haired, freckled man-in-arms.
