Summary
The world, as it was once known, has changed. The ocean to Valentia has opened with new possibilities. Two Apothecaries live their peaceful lives downriver, unknowing of the betrayal happening far upstream, but that betrayal changes their lives nonetheless. Zeph is taken away against his will, and his friend must cooperate with a prickly thief to get him back. The journey is long, however, and there are plenty of people to meet along the way.
