Summary
The idea of becoming Shadow Milk's literal plaything should have been nothing but abhorrent. Truthless Recluse had already given up so much at the hands of the Beast, did he really need to give up his will as well? Or, if he couldn't find the heart to be offended, he at least should have had the self preservation to not want to be utterly mindless in his grasp.
Except Recluse was just weary enough to deeply crave the sweet escape that Shadow Milk was promising.

Summary
Truthless Recluse knew he was dead the moment he opened his eyes to a blank, all encompassing nothingness. Just moments before he recalls going to bed in his empty manor, his heart heavy in his throat as he struggled to remain conscious. Winter had just set in with snow blanketing the land outside with frost creeping up his windows. In his final moments, he mourned the warmth that once existed by his side, and then woke up in a coffin.
The first thing he realized upon his awakening was that he wasn't breathing. His limbs were locked in place, and a wire kept his mouth shut. The cloth against his skin was delicate and thin, and he realized with startling clarity that he was dead.

Unfortunately for him, Floyd Leech was bored.
One impulsive grab later, Riddle finds himself sitting on Floyd's lap while the Octavinelle student decides that the dorm leader makes a perfectly comfortable pillow. Somehow, the argument ends with both of them falling asleep in the garden.
Cater Diamond happens to walk by.
Naturally, he takes pictures.
Within an hour, the entire school is convinced that Floyd Leech and the dorm leader of Heartslabyul are secretly dating.
Neither of them agreed to this.
But Floyd doesn't seem very interested in correcting the rumor.

Martin’s heart sinks. Just his luck to get a claim right when he’s supposed to be going home, and this caller sounds like the kind of person who’ll probably spend ages going over everything in pedantic detail and demanding reassurance on a dozen points, most of which will be completely irrelevant.
Oh well. Here goes.

For the first week or so, Pure Vanilla learned to keep his mouth shut. Patience was a virtue—compassion was the key. On the second day of the second week, the jester actually attempted some form of conversation outside of the usual business or medical related jargon. It wasn't long before their shared rest period; Pure Vanilla brushed his locks at the provided desk—a trained routine.
"Your hair is short again," A statement. Accusatory. Cautious.
"Mm," Pure Vanilla traced delicate tan fingers through fading knots. "It is."
"It's really…"
"—Easy to manage," Pure Vanilla completed. "Sometimes—the weight is easier to handle when we release some burdens. While I'm able to bring it back, it'll pull and irritate the—"
"—Cracks. Right, I got it."
Pure Vanilla Cookie is sick. There's no other way to put it - his dough is crumbling. Cracks are appearing everywhere. Worse yet, Shadow Milk can feel its haunting pain. Time to fix it at Butter Roll's lab!

The Recluse is the one to bring the tea this time.
Sage didn't expect it at all, really. Their weekly tea parties had been a mutual way of checking up on each other, since neither could agree on the subject of the truth. Sage himself was baked for it, and the Recluse had descended from the Peak of Truth denouncing it.
Pointless fighting got neither or them anywhere so they've ended up here. in Sage's study to debate the truth once more, though this is the first time the Recluse has provided the tea.
