Chara's brother is dead, and has been dead since he betrayed them on that fateful night, dooming xir death to be entirely for nothing. But now xe is on the surface, a tag-along in Frisk's body, and there is a particular golden flower that keeps trying to speak with xir, as though he has any right to parade around the surface he failed to give the monsters.
Frisk, it appears, is friends with the flower.
Chara refuses to let that stand.
