Kaigaku stepped into a puddle and when he looked down, it was blood. But why would there be a puddle of blood over here? It was awfully close to the orphanage and no one is allowed out at night. His eyes trailed the ground and noticed more and more blood as he continued, leading to the orphanage itself.
Maybe Gyomei found an injured kid. Kaigaku heart thumped in his chest as he kept walking. His socks getting soaked in blood as he stared into the darkness of the orphanage. The door was open but no light and no one talking. Way to quiet. Their heartbeats often filled the area.
All he could hear was the faint heart beat of someone….was it Zenitsu’s? Kaigaku debated turning around and heading into town and leaving this place alone but his body moved for him. Stepping up the stairs felt like it took forever as the view of what happened inside the orphanage became clearer.
Or Kaigaku gets kicked out but never runs into a demon, instead the demon king himself visits the orphanage. Accidentally sparing one of Gyomei's children while purposely turning another.
