Suspicious but obedient, Sieun slid off the bike and unlatched the storage compartment. Inside sat a neatly organized box, pale cream paper fillers with a thin silver ribbon. A small bouquet of tulips—soft pink and white—peeked out from the side. His fingers stilled.

She was strong though, she would make it out. He would bet on her every time. And maybe it was for the best, she’d no longer be marked with the title of being his friend.
“Go back inside,” he demanded. There was no kindness in his words.
“Fuck that and fuck this place.” She shook her head, crossing her arms in front of her. The sunset lowered, her purple eyes soaking up the pinks and orange from the sky.
“Kirara, you are too fucking smart and have too much potential. Go back, don’t ruin your life.”
