Summary: Jackie Welles has never been able to sleep in the rain--his father made sure of that a long time ago--a secret shame he has kept from almost everyone for over a decade. During another sleepless storm, Jackie reflects on his past with his family, as well as his present predicament with longtime friend and confidant, V. It may be that scars never fully heal, but learning to open up and share the load can ease the burden.
Eventually takes place after the "job in Mexico," (a corpo opening reference), several years pre-canon.

Summary: It's 2070 and River Ward, young Night City beat cop and former graduate of the juvenile delinquency Second Chance program, has never cared as much about the law than he does about justice. After failing the entrance exams to join Investigations for years, languishing at the bottom rungs of the NCPD force, a true crime falls right into his lap.
But how much can he really change in a corrupted system?
