Summary
Ratchet is usually pretty good about not talking about feelings. He might be even better at deflecting and avoiding emotional conversations than Drift is, keeping his wounded spark hidden behind layers of acerbic wit. So it's odd that Ratchet is being open about his feelings now. Something had changed since Drift was exiled, and Ratchet is getting dangerously close to bulldozing his way right through all of Drift’s carefully constructed walls.

Summary
Self control was a beautiful skill to master.
Needed not from any sort of desire for a perceived stoicism but rather a matter of avoiding complete social suicide.
What could be so detrimental as to require so much focus?
Knockout didn’t like to make a habit of answering that question.

In other words: Knockout has a fainting disorder and hides it by keeping a tight hold on his emotions, and Breakdown makes it hard to not be emotional.

AKA: Bones replaces Booth with a sentient cop car. It's just more efficient that way.
