Summary
Footsteps pass by his door, pausing to knock. Sometimes it’s Grayson. Sometimes it’s Father. He ignores them all, their queries about wanting signs of life and their pathetic attempts to try and coax him out to spend time with them, and shifts to lie on his side. Curled up on the floor, back pressed to the door, he feels a chill not even the heaviest of blankets can get rid of.
It is lonely in this manor.
When Damian came to live with his father, it's nothing like the life he expected it to be. As he struggles to find his place in the family and navigate life outside of the League, help comes in the form of his older brother who's goal is to ensure Damian settles into the life he was meant to live.
Because for all he was taught, Damian was never taught how to be a child.

Damian heard the first raised voice before he even reached the top of the stairs.
It vibrated through the old manor walls. Father’s voice was low but sharp, filled with tension that drenched every syllable he spoke.
Damian paused on the second to last step, his feet silent against the wooden stairs. Years of brutal practice had trained him to be completely silent, allowing him to hold his breath to reduce the likelihood of being discovered. His eyes narrowed as listened.
Another voice emerged. Richard’s. Louder and tinged with frustration.
They were fighting. About him.

Damian followed orders and refused to deviate. He would blindly follow Bruce. It was what he was trained to do. He will be a good soldier. He was also happy to do it. He didn't feel the sour taste in his mouth like the league work gave him. He was fighting for a good cause. He had become a hero.
