Summary
“Maedhros,” said Earendil, “if I ever again see you choose to let someone strike you in the guise of a sparring accident, then I will bench you from the next Void monster fight.”
Or, in which Earendil wants his friend and co-parent to stop letting people hit him. And in which Maedhros wants Earendil to stop interfering in what would otherwise be 'successful exercises in interpersonal diplomacy.'
This story can be read as a stand-alone. Please note that this story takes place in the version of this Desperate Hours AU wherein some of the stories have corporal punishment elements. If you would prefer the version of this story (and the version of this series) with no corporal punishment elements, that story is available here: https://www.ao3.icu/works/79102231

Summary
Fingon thinks that fighting Void monsters from the deck of Vingilot is a 'fun little warm up for Dagor Dagorath.' Maedhros wishes that Elrond would give him a straight answer to what he thinks is a very reasonable question. Thranduil feels that helping him come up with a better way for elves to practice fighting dragons is 'the very least that Maedhros could do, after he was responsible for killing everyone's grandparents.' These three things are not unrelated.
Chapter 2 Summary: In which Fingon is still only Finwe's sixth most reckless grandchild, and in which Earendil decides to adopt Maedhros as his new brother (almost) immediately upon meeting him.
Please note that this story can be read on its own, you do not have to have read any of the other stories in the series(es).

- Part 17 of Stories about Young Elrond

Summary
Some of the 'fanon' type biographies and other background information essays I've created for canon characters and original characters in the Desperate Hours AU, to use as 'cheat sheets' for myself, to help me remember: how I picture them in my mind's eye; how I've interpreted/changed Tolkien canon as it relates to them; how they relate to (and refer to) other characters; and various other details. Also, essays/discussions on other topics, and short snippets (mostly of exposition) edited out of posted stories. An Index of chapter topics is now included as chapter 1.
Story now updated with:
Chapter 22: The Meaning of ‘Tree Family’ in Fourth Age Valinor (in the context of Earendil claiming Maedhros and Maglor as his Tree-Brothers)
Other recent chapters:
Chapter 21. Maedhros and Fingon's Mind-Healers after Maedhros is Reborn in the Fourth Age:

Summary
This gen version of my Desperate Hours series is marked gen because it has no corporal punishment elements in it. The series is Faramir-centric, in an AU where Faramir is secretly the illegitimate son of Aragorn. In the course of writing the first main story about Faramir and Aragorn beginning to work together before they knew about this relationship (Beginnings &Endings), I rather got derailed into developing a bunch of other characters, which is where most of the stories come from. Below in the notes I have listed the major distinctions from, and certain elaborations on, the canon of Tolkien's Legendarium, for purposes of this AU, which I am calling the Desperate Hours alternate universe, Gen version (DH AU G).

Summary
This series is Faramir-centric, in an AU where Faramir is secretly the illegitimate son of Aragorn. In the course of writing the first main story about Faramir and Aragorn beginning to work together before they knew about this relationship (Beginnings & Endings), I rather got derailed into developing a bunch of other characters, which is where most of the stories come from. It is entirely my intention to return to finish Beginnings & Endings.
Please note that, currently, many of the stories in the DH AU include spanking, or some element of corporal punishment, in at least one chapter. If you would rather read stories without spanking or corporal punishment, most of my DH AU stories are re-written to exclude all of that in the Desperate Hours Alternate Universe Gen Version, available here: https://www.ao3.icu/series/16409 under my SusanaR main pseudonym.
Below in the notes I have listed the major distinctions from, and certain elaborations on, the canon of Tolkien's Legendarium, for purposes of this AU, which I am calling the Desperate Hours alternate universe (DH AU).

Summary
Maedhros saga, with main focus on Maedhros' life in Beleriand but spanning all the way from the Time of the Trees almost to the end of Arda.
The series is Maedhros/Fingon and the development of their relationship is one of the main interests of the saga, but other stories in the series look at Maedhros's interactions with his brothers, uncles, cousins, friends--basically whoever he is known or can be assumed to have interacted with.
The series spans different genres and the stories can differ widely in mood, rating, etc.- Words:
