Summary
“You were having sex once or twice a month, new person every time,” Robby says, “and you’re telling me none of them made you come?”
“I didn’t say that—”
“Obviously none of them were good enough to go back for a second time,” Robby says. “Were they just using you to dump a load?” His voice is hard.
Jack opens and closes his mouth. “If we got that far. Some of them backpedaled once they saw what I was working with. It’s not in my bio, you know. Wasn’t.”
Robby growls and goes back in. "Fucking assholes,” he says. “I’m going to spend every day from now on showing you what you should’ve been getting. What you deserved all that time."

Summary
"First massage?”
“Not in a while,” Jack says. “Had some bad experiences with others. People who didn’t know what they were doing with this.” He pulls the sheet aside enough to show Robby his stump, watching closely. Robby doesn’t flinch, doesn’t balk, just glances and nods.
“I’m very sorry to hear that.” Robby folds his hands in his lap, manspreading over the stool he’s sitting on. Jack can’t help staring at the broad line of his shoulders, at the soft way Robby is looking at him, at the way the light hits his face.
He’s handsome. Very, very handsome. Jack’s trying not to stare.
Robby adds, “If it’s alright, could you tell me a few things that other masseurs have done wrong, so that I explicitly know what to avoid doing?”

robby is a golden retriever masseur, and jack is his skeptical client who quickly falls in love with him.

Robby saves people for a living. Jack is the one person he cannot afford to lose.
But there are only so many ways to hold on before you have to learn to let go.
A story about devotion, inevitability, death, and repetitions.

Summary
"I'm not about to kill myself, Robby," Jack said, easy. "If I were going to kill myself, I wouldn't do it here, for you all to find, because that's just rude. I'd eat my gun at home like a proper soldier. Iraq vets have a system, man, it's tradition," he drawled, putting some grim humor on the last.
"Gotta be honest, man, you're not making me feel better over here," Robby said, his voice actually worried now.
"Would it help to know I'm out here because it reminds me that I want to be alive?"

Summary
“So,” Robby says, dropping his work bag onto the bar chair, his long hands gripping the back of it as he looks at Jack.
The elation is still there, but dulled at the reality seeping in between them.
“So,” he says, putting his bag down as well.
“How does this work?” Robby asks and Jack can’t help but twist his lips a little in amusement.
“I don’t know. How do you want this to work?”
Or: how two people finally find their way to one another after so long, only to work through the growing pains of meshing their lives together

Summary
Robby offered a smile, “Kiera,” he began, “The only way we can help you is through a tactile examination. I understand there are parts of you that you don’t like. I understand, I really do. But you are safe here. Myself and Dr. McKay have seen all types of bodies and all types of injuries. We do not judge.”
He felt like a hypocrite after everything he had told Kiera yesterday, about understanding not liking certain parts of herself. About not judging bodies. Even though all he did sometimes was judge his own harsher than anyone else would.
“I know what you’re going to say. You’re going to tell me your hips spill out over your pants. You’re going to tell me your sides and back roll. You’re going to tell me you’re fat. I know all that. I’ve seen all that. Never once have I cared. I have only ever found it attractive.”

Summary
The mom didn’t back off.
“Come on,” she nudged, “tell me you’re not single. A man like you shouldn’t be.”
“Well…” Robby said, exhaling softly, “actually, you see that blonde nurse outside? That’s my girlfriend.”
Jack froze.
Ms. Campbell seemed as caught off guard as Jack himself, the smile on her face faltering as the words sank in.
It made sense. Of course it made sense.
Robby and Dana.
Or, Robby and Dana use each other as pretend significant others whenever a patient doesn’t take no for an answer. Jack, being new, has no idea about the arrangement.

Summary
A juvenile presents to the Pitt with an infected laceration. When Robby goes to examine, he finds that it's not only infected, the leg is dead from the knee-down. He breaks the news to his religious mother, who takes out a gun and gives Dr. Robinavitch an ultimatum: either he fixes the leg without amputation, or he dies.
At home, Jack struggles with guilt after an argument with Robby the prior night. He doesn't have time to make a proper apology with their shifts, but at the very least, he can bring Robby lunch as a peace offering.

Summary
"I'm going to miss you, when you leave for your sabbatical."
That's what almost makes Robby break. He laughs softly, awkwardly. His face probably looks flushed. "Brother, I—"
Jack pulls him into a hug, without asking for permission. His face is flushed against Robby's shoulder, probably smushed uncomfortably against the strap of his bag. It takes Robby a moment to realize what is happening, but he hugs back, one hand on Jack's back. His black shirt is sweaty, his back wet and warm, but it only makes him feel more real, human, underneath Robby's hand.
It takes a lot of strength to actually pull back.
or a take on season 2 featuring: robby's real plans for his sabbatical, the donorcycle, an accident, and reaching out for help.

Summary
FOR THE LORD G-D WILL HELP ME; THEREFORE SHALL I NOT BE CONFOUNDED: THEREFORE HAVE I SET MY FACE LIKE A FLINT, AND I KNOW THAT I SHALL NOT BE ASHAMED.
Dennis would love to not be ashamed.
Dennis would love to pretend that his imagination isn’t running away with him, but he knows, even if it is deep down, that it is getting out of hand, and it’s just getting worse, especially around Robby. Everything he does at work, his shadow, one that's a little bit more fond of physical touch, drives him fucking insane. He’d very much like to pretend that the hands on his shoulders, the occasional one that slips to just below his shoulderblades- too low if you ask anyone who would witness it, even Mel, who wouldn’t dare to say that part out loud- actually mean anything, and that what it does mean, is that possibly the most handsome man Whitaker has seen in a long time, has something that resembles feelings for him back.

Summary
As Robby lifts his shirt up, Dennis is overcome with the need to bury his face in his armpit until he passes out. The gold chain with its Star of David that he always wears rests just below his collar. As Robby strips off, Dennis allows himself a longing look.
Yeah, Dennis admits to himself, he’s down pretty bad.
He’s certain that the fishing trips his brothers took with their dad didn’t have this additional complication – that of the man taking them being so hot they’d want to cry. Trinity’s comment, ‘daddy wants to take you to the woodshed,’ bounces around in Dennis’s head.
-Robby takes Dennis out on a fishing trip. Neither of them expected it to end this way.

Summary
“Too hard to sleep knowing I’m there?” He teases, Robby smiles. Flicking away the ash as he lets out a low chuckle. “Something like that.”
Dennis snorts, staring at his fingers as he tugs at the edge of his blanket. Robby keeps his hands to himself for a bit, it registers distantly that his face is slightly numb from the cold. But Robby is out here, and the bed is far colder when he’s alone than the balcony is when Robby is next to him.
Robby sets his lips, stroking his beard in thought for a moment before he speaks. Far too calm.
“Did you know I never wanted to get married?”
Dennis looks up, the words falling flat between them.
Oh.
Well, no. He didn’t know that.
“Uh, no.” Dennis stills, his jaw surely hangs open. His eyes sting inexplicably at this revelation.
Or maybe it isn’t so inexplicable. Maybe he knows why it hurts. Of course he does. Because Dennis does want to get married. And he can’t imagine that with anyone but Robby.
Or
Robby never wanted to get married, that is, until he met Dennis. He tells him as much, albeit inefficiently at first.
