    Her eyes hardened. “There is no going back, Colin.” She folded her arms across her chest. “I never asked you to court me-”

    “I know, I-”

    “I have not finished!”

    Colin gaped at her. Pen could be sharp in her witticisms, and he now knew she could be vindictive and cold when wounded. But he’d never seen her speak with such self-possession before. He bowed his head apologetically and gestured for her to continue.

    An alternative S3 based on the synopsis. Aimed to have it completed before S3 was released but took too long. It was fully plotted but only half-written when the show was released, so occasional influence from the show has crept in but I try to minimise this. Probably now a bit of 'fix fic' (sort of) for those who wanted it to take longer to rebuild their relationship, more Colin perspective, a different placing of the Whistledown reveal, and some Colin and Pen against the world! :-)
