Bruce let out a heavy sigh and cleared his throat to forcefully grab Dick’s attention. Dick rolled his eyes and tossed his pen across the table before crossing his arms. When he finally looked up and took in the billionaire vigilante in front of him he was greeted by probably the second darkest circles he had ever witnessed on Bruce’s face. Second only to those he had worn after Jason died, when he had been hunting down the Joker but every time he got close enough he would methodically and purposefully let that death worshiping pile of garbage gain distance. Dick knew that there was only one reason for it.
Bruce had to give the Joker the head start because if he ever would have caught him, he would have killed him. Batman would have broken his one rule.
When a new face in Gotham shows up, Bruce starts acting strange and all of a sudden Dick's world is thrown upside down.

Summary
While the rest of the Bat-fam is wary of Jason's (second) return, Dick is quietly thrilled when Jason appeared like an apparition after disappearing for years. They had all expected him to come back the way he had been before - fists swinging and guns blazing - only to appear two years later with an entirely different agenda none of them had expected: to avoid the hell out of the Bats and go about his ways as a crime lord.
Well. That seemed to be the case for a while. But now Dick is in a bit of a pickle. Because out of the blue, Jason has become hell bent on getting him out of Gotham - going so far as to threaten his life. But what Dick can't understand is why him?

Dick was a walking danger magnet with a charming smile. Jason always knew that.
And this particular magnet just so happened to share blood relations with one of the most vicious, albeit dead Talons in the history of Gotham: William Cobb. But it turns out being dead wasn't enough to stop the Court of Owls, and the myth of Gotham City is on a hunt for that familial blood. Jason just needs to find a way to keep Dick out of Gotham and out of sight from the Court of Owls. That turns out to be more trouble that he anticipated.

Summary
They hadn’t put a name to—whatever this was between them, yet, but Jason had the sneaking suspicion that it had already evolved beyond his control, that any speed bumps he could’ve thought to put on whatever it was they were became useless the moment he realized he couldn’t look at Dick without feeling like he was gazing into the heart of a forest fire that he would gladly allow to consume him whole.
Dick gets hurt, badly. Jason wishes he could turn back time.
