So I deserted, and they left me like… like this,” he’d said, gesturing to the wound Izuku had seen earlier while the man was recovering in the infirmary. Izuku winced. “And now they call me a pirate, because that’s what they call anyone who rebels. But I’m not quite one of those, either. So I’m not sure what to call myself.”
Izuku had scrunched his face in concentration, thinking hard. Eventually it was a single word he landed on, one he’d only ever heard in the stories his Mom liked to read to him.
“A Hero,” he’d told the man. “You protected us today, and you did it because you wanted to. You’re a Hero.”
Or: Izuku Midoriya doesn't want to be a Marine or a Pirate. He finds a path and a family regardless.

As a reconnaisance hero, Nedzu wasn't very good at fighting, nor was he inclined to get involved in the more... physical parts of being a hero. So when he gets involved in a villain attack he soon finds himself helpless, fighting a losing battle against time and the viscous slime forcing its way down his throat.
Before he loses consciousness, however, a green blur buys him valuable seconds. A small, quirkless green blur, to be exact; one filled with determination and intellect that are just begging to be refined by Nedzu's paws.
Yagi just hopes the world will survive the encounter.

And suddenly, five years after he’d begun, here he stood; on a human – Terran, they were Terran, now – shuttle headed to orbit, where an intergalactic ferry would be waiting to take him away.
It was... terrifying.
He couldn't wait.
