In short, Regulus’ reputation can’t take the hit when someone like James Potter gets the better of him, and he refuses to accept the loss. Even if getting a rematch forces him to make an ill-advised bet. There’s no way he’d allow Potter to win for the second time, anyway. Nothing will go wrong. He won’t actually have to kiss his nemesis.
