“Well, it’d be like anything without a heart! Dead inside, cruel, mean, unfeeling,” Ranpo prattled on. “Now, suppose this monster is given a heart. He’s able to feel now, sympathize, care even. It’s brought warmth to his cold existence. Do you think that monster would be happy if someone came and took that away from him?”
