Thomas Schmidt doesn’t believe in destiny.
So, when he and his father moved across the city to start high school in a ‘fresh’ area, he didn’t expect much. It’s just a different high school than most of the kids at his middle school were attending, really.
Perhaps the usual silence, yet another uneventful school year with no friends as a result. Hoping that a new environment with mostly new people would make the bullying go away was, of course, just wishful thinking. He’d even thought, originally, that the year may even be decent, before he remembered his secret. Before he remembered that not keeping it a secret could be life or death.

OR;14 year old Thomas Atlas Schmidt is starting high school after a relatively traumatic experience that had occurred during April of that year. He has secrets to keep, people to avoid, others to protect, a lot of processing issues (apparently), and hey, one of the guys that have been annoying him all year… isn’t all that bad?
