Instead of answering, Hoffman spins fully to face Peter again and tells him, “Get back in the box.”

His gaze is dark and dilated, trembling just at the edge of meeting Hoffman’s own, and Hoffman can smell him: lukewarm coffee, the ghost of listerine.
“Don’t play games. You’re not getting under my skin, motherfucker.”
