Arthur could see his father glaring down - face red and eyes narrowed as he looked at Merlin with clear distaste.
"Once this over, sorcerer...I’ll burn you."
"You’ve already tried that," Merlin’s voice answered and Arthur had to bite his fist to keep from making any noise. “You need to accept you can’t kill me… Hand me that blanket, please.”
“I’m sure there must be some method… Beheading?”
“No, we tried that.”
“Hanging?”
“I just sort of... Swung there, remember?”
There was another pause.
“I should have made you keep that dragon below the castle so I could feed you to it.”
“Kilgharrah? He won’t eat me, but if you want to torture me than making me listen to his nonsense for an hour might do it.” Merlin said and there was a soft sigh from the other end of the room. “I’m glad you agreed to help me though. Usually I have to do the grunt work of saving Arthur myself.”
“I can’t wait to kill you.”
Or
Uther finds out about Merlin’s magic, but can’t seem to kill him. Merlin is just trying to protect Arthur. They become a begrudgingly effective duo. Arthur doesn't understand why they think he isn't noticing this.

It’s on one such sunny afternoon that Sanji finds himself sitting at the base of a large tree, enjoying the warm temperatures while simultaneously shaded by its leafy branches. It’s peaceful out here, so much so that he can almost pretend he’s not a patient in a hospital who has no real plan for what he’s going to do next.
He flinches as that thought occurs to him, his shoulders already hunching protectively up around his ears. At the same time, completely without his permission, his hands start to bury themselves in his hair, tugging at the strands until they hurt.
“Stop it,” he tells himself sternly, rocking slightly back and forth. “Stop it. Stop it. Stop it. You’re fine. Everything’s going to be fine. There’s nothing to worry about here. Germa’s done, the rock’s done, and you made it through both. You’ll - ”

What happened was that Kavinsky’s hand remained on Ronan’s chest and his breath hitched. He looked sober for a split second –as sober as Kavinsky could look on a normal day.
Suddenly, all of his secrets felt very close. Too close. They were all about to spill out.

The door slams open, and he jumps, jerking in the chair. A man stands in the doorway, panting, looking just as surprised. The sounds of fighting are louder now that the door is open.
"Shouta," the man gasps, darting into the room.
Shouta, it rings through his head clearly, a piece slotting into place. That's me, that's my name. A sense of relief follows it, then concern. Nothing else comes with it. No surname, no recognition. Just a feeling that the name is right.
He—Shouta stares up at the man, trying to place him, trying to understand. A hero? The outfit looks odd, lots of leather. There is some kind of speaker around his throat, big and clunky. Headphones and long, long blond hair.
This man is important, he thinks, but fuck, who is he?

Shouta groaned, trying to push himself up off the forest floor, but fell right back onto his stomach, too weak. He was breathing fast, shallow pants of air, and he turned his throbbing head to take in the trees and underbrush surrounding him.
He dragged his arm up to survey the damage to his pulsing wrist, then froze. A… paw? Why was he looking at a paw? He blinked hard, trying to clear his vision, moved again, and the paw moved instead of a hand.
What.
Hizashi and Shouta are turned into a dog and a cat after a raid gone wrong, then stranded deep within forested mountains. They’re hurt, exhausted, and lost, and have to find their way home without being able to communicate.

Summary
Having Shinsou in their space is strange, but not quite as strange as Shouta feared it would be. All things considered, Shinsou settled in quite nicely with them, though Shouta guesses that has more to do with how accommodating Shinsou is, to the point where he basically melts into the background.
It sets Shouta's teeth on edge because it's more than obvious that it's a learned behaviour instead of something Shinsou is naturally inclined to and Shouta can just hope that eventually, he'll realise that he's wanted there with them.
For now, though, he has to watch as Shinsou squirrels his dinner away to his room and Shouta can't quite suppress the sigh that comes out.

Hizashi hadn't realized just how much love his heart could hold until his kids came into his life — From the moment he met them he'd been prepared to lay down his life for them. Eri and Hitoshi owned his heart even though theirs lied with his husband. He'd been prepared for it, and it didn't bother him.
He'd known. It shouldn't have hurt. Yet, when he found it thrown back in his face while simply making his kids dinner, Hizashi didn't expect it.
(Or, Hizashi comes to the very incorrect assumption that his kids don't love him. His family sets him straight.)

Shouta listened to Hizashi, and despite the many, many, many people in his life to have told him to shut up — his husband had never been one of them. And while of course he had his bad days where he found himself unsure if he'd even be able to open his mouth let alone keep up the happy-go-lucky attitude he normally exhibited. He also had Shouta at his side with his open hands and gentle demeanor that never failed to reassure Hizashi that he was loved and so was his voice.
So maybe that was why it was so surprising when Shouta finally did say the words he'd never expected from him.
(Or, Hizashi does not handle being told to shut up well.)
