Summary
Two weeks into December, Dennis is dead on his feet. No amount of redbull could fix this tired. When he’s headed out the door, Robby asks him when he's next in. Dennis looks down at his phone to check the time and almost cries. 7 hours. That means 5 hours of sleep, max, when he accounts for the bus to the apartment he shares with Trinity, the bus back to work, and hopefully some ramen.
Robby tells him to wait while he goes to his locker. Dennis does, closing his eyes trying not to resent the way this is cutting into his sleep time. He opens his eyes when Robby presses something cold and metal into his hand, along with a post-it note.

Dennis takes on way more shifts than he should in December of his intern year. Robby, who is hot bunking with Jack, invites him to join their rotation.

By week two, Dennis is dead on his feet. No amount of redbull could fix this tired. When he’s headed out the door, Robby asks him when he's next in. Dennis looks down at his phone to check the time and almost cries. 8 hours. That means 5 hours of sleep, max, when he accounts for the bus to the apartment he shares with Trinity, then back in the morning.

Summary
Robby thought, right at the start, that there might be something between him and Whitaker. But then a week into Dennis’s rotation, he sees Santos and Dennis arrive at work in the same car, smiling and laughing. A few days later, Robby is standing with Santos when they both notice a patient trying to flirt with Dennis. Santos intervenes, signalling a little jealousy, staking out her territory, and killing any hope Robby had.
-
Drabble in which Trinity and Dennis are fake-dating to ward off pushy patients. Unfortunately, Robby believes them. He makes it work, pushing down the feelings until he sees Trinity flirting with someone else.

Summary
Robby looks up, and he’s back in this moment. He’s been in peds the whole time, but he’s back in 2025. The kid — shit, he’s supposed to say ‘the student’ or ‘Whitaker’, set the example for his team and their patients — still has his hand extended. Robby meets his eyes, shocked at how the younger man broke through the noise, and takes his hand.
(All the times that Robby and Dennis said "Okay, c'mon, give me your hand" to each other.)

Summary
The fate of almost all couples is that one outlives the other. Robby and Dennis are more aware of this than most, given their time in the Pitt and how many times they’ve had to break that news.
Knowing it’s coming doesn’t make it any easier.
(In which Robby is dying and Whitaker doesn't want anything left unsaid.)

Summary
“Heads up, someone’s coming down from pedes to take a look at our baby Jane Doe.” Dana says, phone tucked between her ear and shoulder. Robby feels his entire body stiffen.
“Oh?” He says, trying to go for casual as he leans up against the desk. He looks up at the glowing board above the two of them, scanning for his patients. “Do we know who?”
Dana levels a look at him as she hangs up the phone, a smile tugging at the corners of her lips.
“The one and only.” She glances over at the black thermos sitting innocently next to them, a bright yellow sticker faded with some age, corners curling, with bold letters saying ‘good job’.
“Ah. Right.”

Summary
In the ER, it's a common joke that not even HR has Robby's phone number. Before he goes on sabbatical, Robby hands Dennis 10 digits scrawled on a post-it note. For emergencies.

Summary
“He’s my bos-” Whitaker said, but was quickly interrupted.
“I’m his boyfriend,” Abbot replied, his voice as steady as it always was in a crisis. He’d said it like it was *true*, with such confidence that it actually stunned Dennis temporarily.
--
or, Jack Abbot pretends to be Dennis Whitaker's boyfriend to keep away his creepy stalker ex, and heals some wounds along the way as a doctor should.
