“No rush.” Robert replied semi-calmly, hoping to ease the other’s nerves. He paused for a moment, then patted Sonar’s shoulder akin to how he had in The Sardine, but this time, he left it there. Sonar tensed at first, then relaxed into the comforting touch.
“I’m kind of—or, no. I am. I’m in love with you.”
After the bar fight, Sonar and Robert have a heart-to-heart.

“U-Uhm, hello? Some–is anyone there?”
Robert pauses just in the doorway out of the kitchen, frowning. What the hell was Waterboy doing calling in? Everyone was dismissed hours ago.
Robert clicks the little button on the headset. “Waterboy? What’s up?”
Only then does he start slowly making his way back to his desk. The lights are all off, save for the lamp at the corner of his desk, and the warm, dim glow does nothing to help his exhaustion. “W–uh. Hey! Robert, yes–yeah. So I’m just. Well, I-I have a sort of, you know, situation.”
OR Robert's trying to finish up some late-night assignments. Waterboy is a disaster. It works out for them.

Summary
There really wasn’t a whole lot Bucky Barnes was surprised by anymore.
Dying twice, more or less, with several decades of literal torturous hell would do that to a guy. But, sitting pretty in 2027 driving down the almost-17 hours to Delacroix Louisiana in one go on a whim was pretty surprising.
Or maybe not? It was probably more the reason Bucky was red lining it to the bayou only stopping for gas and bathroom breaks that was startling him.
