It’s a question she’s considered, because of course she has, because Spider-Man has been a peripheral part of her world since high school just as someone who lives in the same city where he operates, but she’s never properly given it much thought other than a passing curiosity.
Still, her brow unfurrows and her day gets even more interesting than she had expected, because it clicks.
And he’s looking at her because he can see it click.
“You want me to find Spider-Man’s civilian identity.”
Tony Stark smiles, a shark in the water but MJ isn’t the surfer at the top of the movie about to meet a violent end. Not in this case. Not this time.
“I want you to find Spider-Man’s identity,” he nods in agreement.

Dick was every bit as evasive in conversation as he was in combat. Just as flashy, too, in the ways he could distract you. Dick didn’t lie often but he was good at it when he needed to be. Primarily because he lied almost exclusively through omission, which he practiced like an art form. You could ask the man the color of the sky and he’d launch into a twenty-minute monologue regarding the importance of flossing your teeth after every meal. A couple of jokes and a brief interlude of witty banter later and suddenly the sky was purple, and you had a new found enthusiasm for oral hygiene.

He knows how to come across as polite and intelligent and charming, and on absolutely any other day, he would be rocking this.
