Summary
After years of fighting for his own independence, Jean can't stand to watch other people around him be steamrolled. It especially bothers him when it comes to Jeremy, his overly upbeat regular.
Jeremy’s date doesn’t seem to notice the way Jeremy stills, and Jean can already see where this is going.
Jeremy has been coming to the cafe ever since Jean started working there, and while at first he was just another customer, once this trend of copious (awful) dates became apparent...
It was hard to ignore him.

5 Facts About Rising Star Neil Josten, Lead in Newest Reynolds Film
1. Neil starred in his first commercial when he was just six years old–remember a kid with bright blue eyes and a milkstache? Yeah, that was him.
2. He graduated early with honours and received scholarships for 4 of the top schools in the country before ultimately deciding on Columbia University. Intelligence is so hot.
3. Neil is to be up for his first Academy Award just three years into his career as a full-time actor. Talent or prodigy? Either way, we will be sat!
4. He’s a polyglot! Neil says his family has ties all over the world, which means he learned multiple languages at a young age. He’s fluent in English, Dakhóta, French, German and is currently teaching himself Spanish. Siri, how do you say “he’s too good to be true” in French?
5. Rumour has it he and infamous actor Andrew Minyard do not get on, yet staff on-set have said the two can’t help but pick on each other. Frenemies? Bromance? We’re dying to know.

Summary
Sometimes, when Jean shows up, the soft rev of his motorcycle announcing his arrival, James joins him and they work in comfortable silence together. Other times, James steps into his backyard after a day out of the house, and the only signs Jean has been there are the neatly trimmed bushes, weedless soil, and a basket full of fresh vegetables sitting on the back steps.
5 AM for a student-athlete who had played a tough game the night before is just too early for James to let slide. He sighs and flicks on the coffee machine before making his way outside.
Or, a collection of moments where Jean gardens and Rhemann helps his kid heal.

“Why do I get the feeling you’d rather I just pretend you’re fine?”
Kevin opens his mouth to reply but Jean cuts in, “Kevin has always preferred to hide away and lick his wounds like a dog.”
“Weird way to put it, but so did you, if I recall correctly,” Jeremy says—grateful all the same for the reminder—before turning back to Kevin. “I’ll do my best not to fuss too much, but I’m not gonna let you be miserable this whole time, either.”
---
Jeremy, Jean, and Kevin try to make a relationship work; being sick doesn't necessarily make things easier.

Summary
Neil’s mother had refused to allow him to pick up an instrument on the run. She’d never told him that she was trying to save him from himself, but here Neil was, years later, playing music—and yet, he was still breathing. All at once, Neil was hit with a wave of sickening guilt and vicious triumph. I’m alive, Mom. I’m alive.
