Magical means failed to track the boy down, but Muggle means proved surprisingly successful. It seems whoever placed the child in this situation didn’t consider Muggles dangerous – very few of us do, after all. (And perhaps that was our gravest mistake, regarding young Mr. Potter.) But if a lone reporter can track the boy down so easily, then how easy would it be for a vengeful Dark witch or wizard to do the same?

"The world believes Lord Voldemort's been dead since 1981. And he wishes for it to stay that way, thank you."
The story J.K. Rowling was too much of a coward to write. A series of canon divergent works completely overhauling the lore and characters of Harry Potter. The main story is Retired Prometheus, where Lord Voldemort is dead…to the world, and Montgomery Goldsmith (a completely new and definitely unrelated character) becomes Hermione Granger’s mentor. Featuring:
* in-depth examinations of pureblood culture and politics,
* world building?? a painstaking amount of it actually,
* “bad” and “evil” characters who are humanized without having their actions excused,
* nuance, nuance, nuance,
* the author trying to get you to visit Montenegro,

Summary
A series which started out as a fun Time-travel, alternate universe fix-it and has since evolved. The first two entries can be read in any order as stand-alone fics. However, I wrote Force Distortion first and reading How to Take Empire first takes away from the air of mystery in Force Distortion, though doing so does add a fair amount of dramatic irony.
1) Force Distortion: A fun time-travel story featuring an Ahsoka Tano and Anakin Skywalker from an alternate timeline who assist "Canon" Ahsoka Tano and Anakin Skywalker avoid the terrible tragedy of Vader being born, RotS, and OT.
2) How to Take An Empire: The story of the Ahsoka Tano and Anakin Skywalker from the alternate timeline and how they... well, how they took the Empire.
3) It'll Be Like I Never Left: How the Anakin Skywalker from How to Take An Empire finds his true redemption.

Summary

Involving thestrals, merfolk, house elves, centaurs, acromantulae, and various other friends, denizens, and allies.
This series is: Queer in a multitude of ways. Morally complex. A massively canon-divergent AU. Filled with oc's and non-oc's. A story about relationships, love, trust, friendship, healing ... and revolution.
There are seven novel-length fics, plus a prologue (to leap and love the fall) and two longer stories (with courage unyielding and the gentle sunlight). The short story collection to journey on contains shorter stories set within the main timeline. All are posted in the correct reading order.

In 1993, Gilderoy Lockhart points a stolen wand at Harry Potter and Ron Weasley with the intent to Obliviate them. The wand doesn't backfire. Gilderoy's "discovery" of the Chamber of Secrets is a short-term success.
Other consequences are not short-term at all.
Archived Author's Notes:
I was watching the Chamber of Secrets movie several years back when the scene in question began to play...and immediately I wanted to know what would happen if the wand had done what it was supposed to do. The answer got very complicated, very, *very* quickly.Blame Edgar Allan Poe for the title.
