    Summary

“Malfoy,” Potter called, annoyed, and then again, louder, when Draco didn’t respond. “Come on. I’m here to rescue you, you prick.”

Draco looked around himself, at the cottage and the garden and back through the hallway toward the table he’d set for two. A bumblebee ambled past, scalloping lazily through the air. “I’m not in need of rescue at this time.”

Everything was harder out here in the cold reality. The colors faded under the moonlight. The world was too real around them. The future bent and shimmered, a slipshod sea of potential in a world that didn’t care what he wanted. What either of them wanted. There was beauty in that, too, Draco thought. To have the choice; to shape the world, or to try. He could owl Pansy, maybe. He barely remembered what they had fought about.

“I followed you,” Potter said, meaning a mirror, meaning a bathroom, meaning a life that wasn’t real, but that could be. “Would you do the same?”

    “I can try.”

    “How was liaising, dear?”

Potter started at the sound of his voice, his head whipping around to take in Draco, sitting at his bedside in days-old clothes. “Liaised a curse right into my sternum,” he said, rubbing the palm of one hand against his chest through the thin fabric of the hospital gown. “How long have I been out?”

    “Three days.”

“Oh.” Potter tried to sit up, but slumped back down immediately with a hiss of pain. “Is there- yeah, thanks,” he said, as Draco handed him a glass of water. “So, you’re here.”

    “Clearly.”

“So, I guess they told you I’m a… dragon tamer?”

“Try again, Potter.” Draco sat back, crossing his arms.

    “Curse breaker?”

    “Better.”

    “Racecar mechanic?”

Draco rolled his eyes. “Now you’re not even trying. Unspeakable Potter.”

    Summary

Harry's surprised that Draco didn't have wards up preventing mortally wounded former school mates-turned-ghosted work fellows from bursting into his house.

In Harry's addled mind, this seems like a great opening line to say to Draco's gobsmacked face. He doesn't get that far, though.

Or: Harry gets hurt, Draco is a vanishing alchemist who may or may not be able to save the day, but under no circumstances are either of them willing to talk about Their Feelings.

Well. Maybe "mortal peril" circumstances will do it, actually.

    Summary

“Were you sleeping with Rose Landry?” LeClaire asked, and Ilya felt his entire world flip upside down.

Ilya scoffed and sank into the chair. He stared at his lap and, for a second, wished he could just say yes. It would have been easier. A simpler explanation. Something everyone else could swallow. “No,” he answered instead. “I was not sleeping with Landry.”

Coach sighed, the weight of it settling uncomfortably in the office. “So it was Hollander, then.”

    Or

Ilya gets called into his Coach's office after Rose and Shane start dating and an uncomfortable conversation takes place. Ilya realizes some things. Also he may need to stop reading his thesaurus.
