Summary
This man has taken time from many. But Soap can see, through his fiery vision, that there is another tether. It stretches beyond the horizon, further West, to where the sun is yawning its mouth wide and getting ready to settle. It stretches towards his Carnivale.
The man falls to his knees, gasping, lungs shuddering and ribs flinching. His bare face is pale with bloodloss, his hands tremble and his eyes turn dull. He is dying; Soap can see the shape of the man's skull like a mask.
Soap kneels down and cups his face, makes the man look at him. He can tell it's difficult, can see the swift-approaching mounted rider that the Earth has called Death. The man can see Death, too. It makes his eyes roll wildly, showing their whites.
"Don't," he rasps, in an accent that does not belong here, coughing around the dirt in his throat. "Don't, please. I need more time, I just need more time."

"'Bout time we got another reptile in here," Gaz says brightly. "Maybe now Cap'll finally invest in some proper heaters."
Soap chuckles, smoke leaking from his nostrils when he grins. "Ah'm plenty warm," he teases, drawing Gaz under his wing, the snake wriggling happily, his round pupils shining as his cheeks flush pink. He rests his chin on Soap's shoulder with a tiny hiss, content to curl around him and soak up the heat of Soap's fire.
"Ghost is out on a mission," Price tells him. "You'll only get to meet him when it's basically wheels-up, unfortunately. He's, ah, a bit of a prickly sort, but impress him and you won't have any problems."

Summary
The air reeks of fire when John walks into the Prince's bedchamber, his tail flicking behind him in a lazy coil, and lets the door swing closed. It scrapes along the floor, and while John made no effort to be quiet, he winces at the sound.
And, predictably, conjures a low, aggressive snarling from somewhere in the darkness. The dragon speaks before John can, white fire flickering in and out as his mouth moves; "So," he begins, hostility dripping from every word, "this is what they send me."
