He’d never bothered to think about it. Why would he? It was unchanging, like the rising of the sun or the musty odor of cigarettes that now clung to practically everything he owned. He had been shot and his side hurt and his stamina had been completely eradicated by years of fevers and his wrist clicked like a broken hinge more often than not. These were the simple facts of life, things that even Jay wasn’t inclined to question.
That didn’t mean it didn’t hurt like hell whenever it decided to flare up.Jays wrist hurts. Tim helps.

"Calling it a man felt deeply wrong, though. This was no man. This was a fucking demon, it must be. Something straight from hell. It was too tall, too narrow. It’s was white as a sheet, something stretched out and broken about its features.
A branch smacked across his face, and Alex made a noise of pain. Trying to run with increased speed despite the difficult terrain. More twigs and branches smacked into him, even as he tried to hit them out of the way. It was impossible to see in this dense foliage, the trees blocking out all shreds of moonlight.
As he was starting to think he had gotten away, suddenly ice cold fingers scraped against the nape of his neck. Alex’s body jerked out, shivering violently. He staggered at the freezing touch, and the universe took that exact moment to let his foot drop into a small hole in the ground. Alex cried out, ankle twisting and knees buckling beneath him. He slammed hard into the ground, shoulder scraping against branches and head hitting solidly into a rock. Dazed and in pain, Alex stared straight up into the pitch blackness."or, Alex Kralie gets turned into a vampire
