Light Spoilers for AKOTSK concerning Maekar’s future.
One moment Maekar is being crushed by a boulder at Starpike, and the next he wakes under a Weirwood tree next to Brynden “Bloodraven” Rivers. Back to a childhood where Baelor is alive and well, Daemon Waters lives under the same roof, and war is brewing in gossip.

Maekar doesn’t know what this world is, if it is an afterlife or a second life or eternity in the seven hells. But he finds it scarcely matters. This life Baelor Targaryen will live long, happy, and healthy. And Maekar will do anything to make it so.

Maekar blinked, confusion knitting his brow. "What?"
Baelor let out a shaky breath, his pupils blowing wide. "The sheer power of it. The pain. Knowing it was you who possessed the strength to break me."
He leaned in further, his voice a ghost against the heavy wool of Maekar’s tunic. "I liked it. I liked the pain of it. It felt… right. To be at your mercy."
Maekar stood frozen, the bandage dangling from his hand, his mind struggling to process the words.
"What?" Maekar asked, his voice flat with disbelief.
