It’s hard to pay attention, hard to keep his defences up. Before they started filming, Brennan came up behind him and grabbed his shoulders, giving him a little shake, and Murph felt an omegan purr rise in his chest before he managed to swallow it down.
His smile feels rigid, like his teeth might crack. His back, neck, and shoulders ache. His underwear is damp. Even with his industrial-grade scent blockers, he's sure that everyone at the table can smell him.
(They can't. He knows they can't. But it sure as hell feels like they can.)

Wolfwood isn’t blind, though more and more these days he’s feeling pretty fucking stupid. “Something wrong, Blondie?” Besides everything, all those permanent scars demarcating the cruelty of a group not even meant to be on this planet, who’d endured the crash like an invasive species, sapping resources, making scarcity seem like surviving.
“It’s nothing.” More of that grin that makes Wolfwood feel sick to his stomach. “The prosthetic is cold. And the other one shakes.”

“Boss?” The feather-soft flutter of wings heralds Matthew’s arrival. He lands at Dream’s side, his beady eyes taking in the pulsing mass of darkness that is Dream’s half-formed creation uncertainly. “You… wanted me to check on The Corinthian.” It’s not a question.
“I take it you were able to find him, then.” With a wave of his hand, the half-formed dream falls away—
“I found him, yeah.” He says, uncertain. “I don’t think he noticed me… At least, he didn’t threaten to break my wings and drink my blood—or whatever it is that The Corinthian does when he’s not popping eyeballs like candy—for trailing him.” Is it possible for ravens to shudder? Because he’s definitely shuddering. “But there were a couple of uncomfortably close calls. For a creature with teeth for eyes, he can certainly see a whole hell of a lot.”
Dream arches a brow, but doesn’t comment. Instead, he presses, “What did you see, Matthew?”
“Ah, yes. Right.” He shifts a little, uncomfortable. “I found The Corinthian. He… I didn’t realize that nightmares could cry.”

And then he remembers Gault, and her desire to become a dream, her dissatisfaction with being a nightmare. He remembers the agony etched on the Corinthian’s face in the last moments before Dream unmade him. And he thinks that, perhaps, he should heed Matthew’s warning.
