He was lit from behind and it was difficult for Tim to see his face clearly, but there was a crinkle in the corner of his mask, something that suggested a sense of seriousness that had not been there before. For the first time, Tim's stomach began to feel hollow.

Donnie deflected a bolt from a crossbow. He realized, as the wood and metal projectile dropped to the ground, that he could be in a dimension without advanced technology. And that the prospect of building a portal or sending a beacon might be impossible here. The realization slammed into him just as a yellow-skinned being tackled him to the ground. He shoved upwards, but more aliens were quickly on top of him, wrenching his bo from his grip. Large hands held him down and pushed his shell into the dirt.
